Adrienne is a highly experienced yoga student and yoga teacher working with able and non able bodied students and with those who have mental conditions. She is highly experienced both as a practitioner (since 1999) and as a teacher (since 2013). She teaches all levels from beginners to advanced and has an in-depth knowledge and experience of teaching sympathetically and empathically with correct alignment, body conditions, pranayama (breath work), pre-post pregnancy, injuries, health conditions, one-to-ones, injuries and disease. In 2021 she was a Yoga Therapy teacher on 10 week medical study for Long Covid in conjunction with Iyengar Yoga UK and York St John University.
Adrienne is known for her warm, clear, compassionate and student centred teachings. Her skilful approach helps students, both young and old and fellow teachers find a greater depth of understanding and awareness in their practice and comfort in their bodies and minds. She has a keen sense of alignment and a compendium of yoga adaptations, modifications, and sequences, as well as an in-depth understanding of the use of props. Her approach to the practice is passionate, intelligent and creative and is inspired by her own dedicated practice of Asana, Pranayama and Meditation. Her approach encourages exploration, inner connection both within the movement of poses and with the quietness of the breath, and the stillness of meditation. Alongside all of this, Adrienne is also a Teacher Mentor passing on her knowledge and nurturing trainee teachers.
She has spent decades working with movement and the body both as a holistic therapist, meditation teacher, and facilitating pain management courses, and it is within this framework of deep somatic movement and body, she combines her deep interest in spirituality. Her background in these modalities, with their attention to detail, discipline, application of corrective and remedial work, anatomical insight, and deep informed subtle understanding of the mind, the breath and the inner self, inform her teaching style and practice today.
Adrienne teaches all bodies from the elderly to children through to pregnant and post natal women. She has also assisted Therapy teachers in yoga classes helping end of life patients, those suffering with disease and injury, as well as helping students with mental health and severe and minor anatomical issues.
She teaches weekly classes, private one-to-ones, and deep study workshops for dedicated students and fellow teachers and she is currently a Teacher mentor to aspiring teachers. She has studied with many renowned teachers including Abhijata and Prashant Iyengar, Rajiv and Swati Chanchani, Raya Uma Datta, Lois Steinberg, Stephanie Quirke, alongside her regular mentors Marios Argiros, Larissa McGoldrick and Sheila Haswell.
Adrienne has also trained as a teacher with the award winning charity funded programme ‘Positive Movement’, (Complementary Therapy Award 2018 for Prevention and Self Care) which was designed for older people, and those who experience mobility issues, physical disabilities, and for those living with a limiting long-term illness and their carers. She taught regular classes for within her local communities. Adrienne is also a qualified as Mindfulness teacher and offers therapies such as Swedish holistic massage, Acupressure chair massage, Reiki Healing and Energy healing work and she regularly practices these modalities (click here to find out more).
