Backbends over the chair leading to Urdhva Dhanurasana.
All backbends, no matter introductory or advanced, strengthen and stretch the muscles of the back, open the hips and shoulders when done correctly. The true joy and power of the backbends is the subtle energetic rewards. They are particularly beneficial if you are feeling a little down or depressed, as they have a tremendous capacity to lift the spirits and energise one's soul because the nervous system is pacified. This wonderful family of poses as BKS Iyengar states “make known the unknown and the unknown is brought to the surface”. Feeling the subtle energetic power from within 💫.
