Our bodies hold so much wisdom and many of us disconnect, ignore, distract or mask (in the form of pain killers for example). We often looking outside of ourselves for answers and are constantly searching. When we don’t listen to our bodies, we feel disconnected, from ourselves and others and often feel lost in the world.
From my experience of movement, breath and touch, both as as a student and teacher, I have come to understand that the real connection to our 'true self'- our spiritual awareness, is increased when we practice conscious movement, develop somatic intelligence, sense the power of touch and access the internal healing power of the breath. Over the years I have observed my clients leave treatments and yoga classes softer, more open, and some have such a profound sense of relief they are moved to tears as they compassionately reconnect with themselves. Some arrive at this space on their own and others, especially in the treatments, benefit from being held compassionately in a safe, contained space in order to give themselves permission to let go. When we arrive at this place of connection we come home to the wisdom of our bodies and gain a sense of balance, safety, resilience, and ease, while opening a connection between body, psyche, and spirit. This is a fundamental part of a practice in Yoga, Breathwork (Pranayama), Meditation, Pain Management classes and Mindfulness. Part of my growth journey both professionally and personally has been to understand how we can access the lost parts of ourselves through the practice of conscious embodiment. We all have the capacity to connect to the essence of ourselves and to come to a place of healing and transformation. As our loyal 'soul-friend', the body expresses its wisdom in each moment we just need to learn to listen.
